For all cat-mad friends here, THIS IS A MUST SEE!

If you are before getting a cat, after seeing that, I am sure you'd be put off! FOREVER! rofl.gif

Oh, I love it!! That is so cute. The precious little kitty acts so sweet and innocent when we all know he's the diablo.gif

I've got three. One "does" the next-to-the-head-on-the-pillow routine (this also includes purring at supersonic levels). One sleeps on my feet and hugs my legs. He's taken many flying lessons (after my feet go numb). The other sleeps on my waist -- prefers the right side, but, will settle for the left side or the chest. No wonder I wake up so many times during the night dreaming that I can't breathe biggrin.gif

Thanks for sharing.

Any cat that tried that on MY ear would find himself short one of his nine lives.

You have no idea Just Cuz what cat owners must go through for their beloved little tigers. rofl.gif
Cats no doubt are the best tamers! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Just Cuz Nov 5 2007, 01:03 AM

I have SOME idea.

One of my old girlfriends had a cat.
Darned thing LOVED me.

It would always sleep on my chest when I spent the night.
But when it first got on the bed, it would creep up to my face and give me "kisses" while purring like a Mac Truck.

If I sat in a chair watching TV or whatever, it would lay on top of my right arm and lick me constantly.

Posted by: Katinka Nov 5 2007, 01:19 AM

WOW! I have bad news JC. THAT cat REALLY loved you! rofl.gif
And above all you loved that cat, too ... secretly...deep down... Cause cats are very picky. They do NOT sleep on everbody's chest... just on those chosen ones'...

I thought it was funny/cute at first, but it became an annoyance.

Having her on my chest was like sleeping with a heating pad set on high.

Do you know that joke? (I try my best to translate!)

A guy keeps skunks and they sleep in his bed at his feet. His neighbour comes round and asks with an uncertain look on his face: "Not stinking?"
"Oh, yes they are! But the skunks got used to it!"

Katinka

That is so FUNNY .

I used to have a kitty, Sam who slept on my chest.

He would be very gentle in the morning touching my face with his paw BUT as soon as I peeked and ignored him ...he would sink his claws in to get me up NOW.

I SO miss him (he has been long gone but not forgotten).

Awe...that's a cute tabby.

I must confess...I had two "Sam" Siamese kitties (males)
before my last Sam .

The first , I adopted and he passed away; the other was bought
as a kitten. My father was so attached he wouldn't let me take him when
I moved thus I got my last Sam.

Then I adopted a sweetie tortoise-type and named her Samantha
but after she "christened" my sofa pillow (instead of her box), she
was called Stinker. pardon.gif

I have three cats, a black 16.5 year old boy called Jordan, a nearly 8 year old (her birthday is on the 10th November) little white girl called Nina, and one of her kittens (we saw him born on April Fools Day 5 years ago) a beautiful white and ginger boy called Tyler. Tyler has no brains but he is utterly gorgeous to look at (and he knows it )

Hey this is a great topic! Cats are wonderful creatures! There is never a boring moment with ten cats and two dogs at my house.. crazy.gif
Sunny sleeps on my pillow then on my chest, then He will wake me up licking my nose lol.gif punkin just rubs his face all over my face , Pepe nibbles my toes.if left exposed.. crazy.gif . Yiks! The rest of the cats seems to control thier love.. Starry follows me all over the yard meowing contantly, I pet her and she is fine, but when I go about my gardening there she goes into meowing again.. pardon.gif .

My chihuahua thinks she is a cat and plays with the cats more than she does my schnauzer..

I love the movie, that was so funny! :rofl:Thanks for sharing , both movies are great!

Cats Guide To Humans
1. Introduction: Why Do We Need Humans?

So you've decided to get yourself a human being. In doing so, you've joined the millions of other cats who have acquired these strange and often frustrating creatures. There will be any number of times, during the course of your association with humans, when you will wonder why you have bothered to grace them with your presence. What's so great about humans, anyway? Why not just hang around with other cats? Our greatest philosophers have struggled with this question for centuries, but the answer is actually rather simple:

THEY HAVE OPPOSABLE THUMBS.

Which makes them the perfect tools for such tasks as opening doors, getting the lids off of cat food cans, changing television stations and other activities that we, despite our other obvious advantages, find difficult to do ourselves.

True, chimps, orangutans and lemurs also have opposable thumbs, but they are nowhere as easy to train.

2. How And When to Get Your Human's Attention

Humans often erroneously assume that there are other, more important activities than taking care of your immediate needs, such as conducting business, spending time with their families or even sleeping.

Though this is dreadfully inconvenient, you can make this work to your advantage by pestering your human at the moment it is the busiest. It is usually so flustered that it will do whatever you want it to do, just to get you out of its hair. Not coincidentally, human teenagers follow this same practice.

Here are some tried and true methods of getting your human to do what you want: Sitting on paper: An oldie but a goodie. If a human has paper in front of it, chances are good it's something they assume is more important than you. They will often offer you a snack to lure you away. Establish your supremacy over this wood pulp product at every opportunity. This practice also works well with computer keyboards, remote controls, car keys and small children.

Waking your human at odd hours: A cat's "golden time" is between 3:30 and 4:30 in the morning. If you paw at your human's sleeping face during this time, you have a better than even chance that it will get up and, in an incoherent haze, do exactly what you want. You may actually have to scratch deep sleepers to get their attention; remember to vary the scratch site to keep the human from getting suspicious.

3. Punishing Your Human Being

Sometimes, despite your best training efforts, your human will stubbornly resist bending to your whim. In these extreme circumstances, you may have to punish your human. Obvious punishments, such as scratching furniture or eating household plants, are likely to backfire; the unsophisticated humans are likely to misinterpret the activities and then try to discipline YOU.

Instead, we offer these subtle but nonetheless effective alternatives: * Use the cat box during an important formal dinner.

* Stare impassively at your human while it is attempting a romantic interlude.

* Stand over an important piece of electronic equipment and feign a hairball attack.

* After your human has watched a particularly disturbing horror film, stand by the hall closet and then slowly back away, hissing and yowling.

* While your human is sleeping, lie on its face.

4. Rewarding Your Human: Should Your Gift Still Be Alive?

The cat world is divided over the etiquette of presenting humans with the thoughtful gift of a recently disemboweled animal. Some believe that humans prefer these gifts already dead, while others maintain that humans enjoy a slowly expiring cricket or rodent just as much as we do, given their jumpy and playful movements in picking the creatures up after they've been presented.

After much consideration of the human psyche, we recommend the following: cold blooded animals (large insects, frogs, lizards, garden snakes and the occasional earthworm) should be presented dead, while warm blooded animals (birds, rodents, your neighbor's Pomeranian) are better still living. When you see the expression on your human's face, you'll know it's worth it.

5. How Long Should You Keep Your Human?

You are only obligated to your human for one of your lives. The other eight are up to you. We recommend mixing and matching, though in the end, most humans (at least the ones that are worth living with) are pretty much the same. But what do you expect? They're humans, after all. Opposable thumbs will only take you so far.

For Cat Lovers.

An aquarium is just interactive television for cats.

Anything on the ground is a cat toy. Anything not there yet, will be.

At least dogs do what you tell them to do. Cats take a message and get back to you.

Buy a dog a toy and it will play with it for ever. Buy a cat a present and it will play with the wrapper for 10 minutes.

Cat's motto: No matter what you've done wrong, always try to make it look like the dog did it.

Cat rule #2: Bite the hand that won't feed you fast enough.

Cats are rather delicate creatures and they are subject to a good many ailments, but I never heard of one who suffered from insomnia.

Cats are smarter than dogs. You can't get eight cats to pull a sled through snow.

Cats don't hunt seals. They would if they knew what they were and where to find them. But they don't, so that's all right.

Cats instinctively know the exact moment their owners will wake up. Then they wake them 10 minutes sooner.

Cats know what we feel. They don't care, but they know.

Cats seem to go on the principle that it never does any harm to ask for what you want.

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

Dogs believe they are human. Cats believe they are God.

I had to get rid of my husband. The cat was allergic.

I have studied many philosophers and many cats. The wisdom of cats is infinitely superior.

In a cat's eye, all things belong to cats.

On the Internet, nobody knows you're a cat.

One cat just leads to another.

People that hate cats will come back as mice in their next life.

Some people say that cats are sneaky, evil, and cruel. True, and they have many other fine qualities as well.

There are many intelligent species in the universe. They are all owned by cats.

When I wash the cat, it takes me hours to get the hair off my tongue.

You can always tell a cat, but you can't tell him much.

Strange to say, Chico came to us just 4 weeks before Gipsy got sick. Maybe it sounds a bit crazy, but I think it didn't happen without cause...you know what I mean?

Yes, it's really really hard...and Gipsy wasn't the first. 1995 in may, I lost my dog (Harry, a German-Shepherd/Collie-Mix) because of a pulmonary embolism and in the same year in october my first cat (Chipie, a beautiful black-white lady) got oral cancer and had let her go.
But for all the agony, I can't live without those furry friends.

I try to find pics about my kitties from their "childhood" and tell their sad stories, the way they joined me. For a long long time they were my only companion, their love and kindness helped me going through rough times! I will tell soon! I owe them a lot.

Cats, cats, cats ! Thanks for this topic about our Crazy Catastrophic Cuddly friends ! In French there's a proverb that says "dogs are man's best friends", but cats can be, too... when they don't consider us like cushions or food dispensers or door-openers or mouse-substitutes ! lol.gif

The videos are so funny Katinka, I almost cried with laughter when I saw the morning cat, it's so true ! My Peanut has a lot of tactics to wake me up (usually between 3 and 5 am), like scratching the sheets or the furniture, rolling a ball on the floor (poor neighbours) or slapping me. And then he's annoyed (and he says it very clearly) when I disturb him during his afternoon nap. rofl.gif Little terrorist !

Here's another funny video about cats :
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1o2g_funnycats2_animals

And I think I already gave the link to my cat's blog with pictures of all the crazy, stupid, dangerous, destructive... or cute things he keeps doing. For those interested, here it is :

pardon.gif Sorry it's in French...

BTW how do you use an animated avatar ? I tried to upload one but it doesn't move...

Oh, never mind! I have wonderful memories!

I'm glad you liked the blog, girls. I have a lot of funs making it... and also a lot of fun living with that crazy unstoppable cat. diablo.gif Although you're right, Katinka, no photo can replace the memories of all the funny or tender moments we have with our lovely companions.

nea.gif I think the translator will have a hard time translating some of the slang French, and it won't understand the word "kakawouète" that's all over the blog. In fact "peanut" in French is "cacahuète" and so I call my cat Kakawouète when he's being silly or mischevious or plain malicious... a bit like the other side of his personality ! Sometimes I think he's like doctor Jekyll and mister Hyde ! rofl.gif

Hope you have a nice day at work, Katinka !

Well, the only translation would be peanut, coz it's only the French for peanut but mispelled. Unless you can find another way of spelling peanut so that the cat can have an English nickname...

Many languages have similar roots (likely Latin).
"Caca" in Spanish means "poop" in English.

rofl.gif This post is getting a little weird, don't you think ! JC, instead of talking about "poop", can't you do your job and be serious ? vava.gif ouch, don't hit me please !

It seems Hungarian, Spanish, Dutch AND French word have more common roots than we thought ! The French word is exactly the same as in Spanish.

But (to defend myself, and to put this post back on its original feline topic, since the moderator isn't doing is job... OUCH ! Aiwan ! JC keeps hitting me !) Peanut's nickname doesn't sound so weird because the word "cacahuète" is often used, so we don't pay as much attention to the first 2 syllables... although it can be used in a lot of puns and silly jokes. lol.gif

.

You're right, it's so nice to see them together like a group of friends, or a family.

My Peanut is desperate to make friends, poor kitty, he thinks all cats are nice. He's had so many disillusions when he ran to other cats and got hissed at, yelled at, or scratched. cray.gif He's starting to understand that not all cats are nice, friendly kittens who want to play around, and now he knows the bad cats that come and go in my parents' garden. But he still runs to unknown cats and puts his nose right next to theirs (I've got near-heart attacks when I see him do that).

I'd really like to get him a cute little kitty, but it's not that easy. First because ONE Peanut is quite enough in a small flat, I don't want to picture the damage two would do. rofl.gif And also, one day a friend of mine found a kitten and took it to me, but he was VERY lively and excited. So poor Peanut didn't understand, he thought the kitten was really attacking him and he got angry. I couldn't keep the baby cat, and until we found a nice family for him, I had to take him to my parents'... where he attacked all the armchairs and tore a roll of toilet paper to pieces. lol.gif

biggrin.gif A cat's life is sooo hard sometimes, don't you think ? (but nothing compared to a cat owner's life ! lol)

Posted by: mystic cat Nov 20 2007, 05:21 AM

My 5 indoor cats all loves each other though Sunny is very self centered and has little to do with MIss Kitty and the three sons of hers.. But he don't fight them.. He just looks like he thinks he maynot be a cat like them.. lol.gif

The out door cats are grumpy to other cats.. They fight anycat that comes to my house.. One time Miss kitty got out and the out door cats got after her and scared her.. She did not understand at all. I love my five out door cats, but they are not as innocent as my five indoorcats. My in-doorcats knows nothing about killing birds or mice.. biggrin.gif

mosking.gif Very sweet pictures, everybody! It makes me want a cat again, but they don't tend to survive up here - far too many predators. sad.gif You either keep the cats locked up indoors, or you risk losing them sooner or later. My best friend's cats disappeared this past summer. He had rescued a Siamese-cross brother and sister as kittens, and named them "Tumble" (the male) and "Weed" (the female), because when they wrestled as kittens, all you saw was this little fur ball tumbling through the house. smile.gif They grew into two of the most beautiful cats I've ever seen, but they both disappeared within three weeks of each other this summer. We suspect a http://www.charmingfare.com/animalfacts/fisher.php got them, or perhaps a coyote. They lived for about two years, and that's above average for cats up here (unless they're kept indoors). Here are a few pictures:

As a kitten, Tumble liked to crawl into my friend's slippers.

Weed was always the vocal one...

...while Tumble just liked to chill.

I miss them both. cray.gif

Cats have a hard time in west Texas because ofheat, coyoties, wildhogs and rattlesnakes.. I had to make Sunny stay in when we lived there.. He got bit twice by a rattler.. I have 5 that has to stay in, I can not get the others indoors, I just worry about them.. I am in hopes that east Texas does not have as many scarey things for cats here.. But a little one has already been mangled by some creature, It is alive with the help of meds, but she can not run as fast and has a harder time than the rest about getting around.

I bet the cold weather would be ruff on a kitty to be out doors where you are too..

Thanks for sharing the sweet little kittie pictures.. clapping.gif

My cats too are having a strange affection for cotton sticks. crazy.gif

Posted by: FinouCat Dec 10 2007, 04:35 PM

Yes, Peanut tells me coton sticks are the best toy ever. Except for gold chains and other jewels (those are forbidden toys, that's even more fun).

He goes fishing into the bathroom bin to get the coton sticks and then runs after them all around the flat. He cracks me up, he's so funny !

Hello guys and girls !

All the pets in this post are so gorgeous ! Special mention to JC's waffle and pancake rabbits ! rofl.gif

And a very special thought to Viannen for the loss of his beautiful, beloved cats. cray.gif That's really sad, Viannen, I'm sorry for you.

To cheer you up, here's the link to the latest articles on my Peanut's blog :

http://kakawouetemaskee.skyrock.com/80.html

At the bottom of the page, there's a great video that a friend of mine did, cutting and putting together various videos of Peanut doing... various crazy things lol.gif like eating a catalogue or chasing his own tail. Yeah, I know, that's a classic, except that the stupid cat always does it on a narrow round chair... fool.gif And yeah, he does bite the chair at the end of the tail-chasing bit. Would you believe me if I told you there are lots of teeth marks in my METAL chairs ?

God, that cat is totally insane.

Our oldest kat Turbo almost 17 years was very ill thes days and we ware very buzzy to go up and down to de dokter for him.
I was afraid for him but he survive, het is a strong kat , maby because he is an old Amsterdammer! ;-)

Posted by: ninapooh Jan 11 2008, 12:56 AM

An Old Amsterdammer, that reminds me of cheese. Old Amsterdam cheese, I love it. Will your cat go back to the Netherlands with you.

My cat Jordan (who is also completely black) will be 17 in May. He was very ill over the Christmas and we had to take him to the doctor too. We were told that he may have kidney problems and then he would die, but he has an overactive thyroid (overactieve schildklier) and now he has to be on pills for the rest of his life. Which is okay, as that means I won't have to say "goodbye" to him yet. I hope Turbo is okay

Yes he is Jade. he is very skinny. First we thought it was because he is so old. But now we know it is bcuase of his health, but it's looking as if he has put on a little bit of weight on

Posted by: Jade Jan 13 2008, 11:29 AM

Turbo can eat 24ours a day.

Posted by: ninapooh Jan 14 2008, 12:07 AM

lol yes he can eat all the time, although with him now being on medication it seems as if it is getting better, and he is not so food aggressive

Posted by: Katinka Jan 17 2008, 03:42 AM

I don't know how it is in Russia, I can't wait to hear dilia's answer wink.gif, but here in Hungary it is so funny... all the rules say you have to put your little animal in a basket, put lead and muzzle on your dog when you travel... BUT when someone knows that the pet wouldn't make a riot, they don't do it. They hold them in their lap as mums hold their babies. In that case noone makes a complaint. pardon.gif

Posted by: dilia Jan 17 2008, 05:45 AM

I found this pic on the Internet at the bestpics.ru some years ago.
there is not stuff like that all animals have to be somewhere in, if you travel by a bus or other city transport. We have same rules like Katinka told.

But if you travel by a train from one town to other, there are more stringent laws, though. Maybe they are the same for city transport too, but nobody pays attentions to them.

Sadly, there almost are not laws about animals, no organizations to protect and control them.

Lovely pic dilia, so cute!!! Thanks for the sharing!!

Posted by: Katinka Jan 17 2008, 09:07 AM

Oh, dilia! I am so sorry to hear that there are no laws to protect animals. Well, in this country it was the same for many many years. We only made the first steps to create those neccessary rules and laws against cruel, inhuman people. But they don't care, even a "lovely" prison sentence can't make them stop doing their dirty businesses. That upsets me deeply!

Well, I don't like to talk about this in public, not because I am not proud. I AM very proud and so happy that I found my way to help, I just don't wanna sound like an advertisement or some such, but animals deserve ALL the attention.

After supporting Greenpeace for years, I finally found my place, where I could help more effectively. This makes me feel more closer to what I really would love to do This organisation really tries and wins in many cases. Sometimes don't. It is so hard to face your weakness, even when you are in a group, you can be totally neglected by governments, but it is still worth it. Animals and human rights do.

Please, if you have a little time check out Care2!

It is a wonderful place to meet wonderful people with high values and golden heart, those values we have here. I am sure you will not regret.

Not many store's here let us carry pets in, but there is a store that permits us to carry our babies and it is Pet Smart, long as they are controlled in some manner. like leashes or carriers.

The pets can go shopping with us and pick out their own toys they like.. so fun when I carry Tiny in .. She loves it! All the dogs seem so happy there, like kids in a toy store!

I used to have a Tortie cat called Tinkerbell. It wasn't long before she was called "Stinky". She was a stray we had found and adopted. The change to a regular wholesome diet gave her bad gas.
Apart from that, she was the most sweet-natured and loving cat we ever had. We missed her terribly when she died. Now I've got another moggy, grey/white brainless lump of soppiness. lol.gif

My current moggy was born in my house. Her mother was also a stray cat we had found and adopted. She was our third tortie cat. She had kittens under the house and we kept the runt. The runt ended up towering over her little mother. lol.gif
So much for undersized runts!! This runt is now 11 years old, healthy and a noisy softy.
You can guess I collect strays like other people collect stamps. lol.gif

I have one cat, an orange and white tabby named Creamsicle. He always sleeps with me at night, unless I have my door closed. Then he puts his paws under it, scratches, and then meows. That got kind of annoying, so we put in a "cat door" (It's like a dog door, but smaller). When he tries to wake me up, he licks my feet, neck, and face. Sometimes he bites my nose. If I'm ever reading something, he'll lay down on top of it. If I'm ever watching TV, he'll sit right in my way so that I can't see anything. But I still love him.
I've seen this video at least 20 times, and still laugh every time. Thanks for posting it!

curtsey.gif why thank you.

and they really symbolize the chinese philosophy about yin and yang.

they have different personalities.

akira represents yin.
• Yin (陰 or 阴 "shady place, north slope, south bank (river); cloudy, overcast"; Japanese: in or on; Korean: 음, Vietnamese: вm) qualities are characterized as soft, slow, substantial, water, cold, conserving, tranquil, gentle, and corresponds to the night.

because somethimes he is really snobbish and cold-hearted. smile.gif)

shiro is the yang.
• Yang (陽 or 阳 "sunny place, south slope, north bank (river), sunshine"; Japanese: yō; Korean: 양, Vietnamese: dương) qualities are characterized as hot, fire, restless, hard, dry, excitement, non-substantial, rapidity, and corresponds to the day.

he's hyper-active. smile.gif)

Cat Diary

Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.
Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrate what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies'. I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

This morning I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are snitches and flunkies. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released -- and seems more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.
The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe -- for now.

I showed a friend at work my Mardi Gras gallery and, of course, she said "You do animations? Can you please, please make me a black and gray tabby cat? I've always wanted a cat and am not allowed to have any!"

So what could I say? I've attached the first version below - but I don't think it's good enough to give her. All those stripes make it really hard to work the animation. If anyone has done anything like this before and can offer ANY advice, I would truly welcome the help.

Posted by: Aiwan Oct 20 2009, 06:37 AM

Oh!! You got a new kitty!! He is beautiful! I am happy for you and your family. It's good to see your wife has soften her heart again.

He is a little ball of energy? LOL I get pets who other people can't handle and find them to be loving and loyal, once they have learned who is boss.

MotherGoose, Yes, now everything is fine. Thank you!

I don't know what to do... my cat Alysa has run away from the balcone in the summer before last. I put up a "wanted" notices but it did not help. A week ago when i was on walk and called for my dog instead of him a little cat came running to me. A small touch made her to purr so loudly. I took up her on my arms. But my dog did not like it and bit her. He got jealous! Every day when I call for my dog that cat comes to us and follows us. She does not come too close because of dog, he bit her three times for these days.
I would like take her to home, but i'm afraid the dog will hurt her.
Nobody want her because she is not a kitten already, but not an adult for now. She is homeless and will die from homeless dogs on the street.

She live with us two months. Her name is Marousya. She likes to play with water very much.

Как же вы, через весь континент, кота бабушке доставили? Украинским кошкам генофонд заполярными решили пополнить? biggrin.gif

I have two girlies. I got them in the age of 5 weeks because their mother haven't any milk. I have to build them stages up to the couch. Now they are two very smart and charming witches and important parts of my life.

I know the scenes from simon's cat very well, also the newest 'double trouble' mosking.gif
