Thank you...!

I had an idea for a rose kolobok. I'm not sure about whether it's really worked...

And here she is... Little Miss Muffet.

Little Miss Muffet
Sat on a tuffet
Eating her curds and whey.
Along came a spider
And sat down beside her
And frightened Miss Muffet away.

In the meantime, here is the basic (static) idea for Little Miss Muffet.
Attached Image

The kolobok spider which I made earlier is going to make its appearance into the final Little Miss Muffet scene, of course.

I enjoyed making those kitchen koloboks!

I'm working on a well kolobok. At the moment I have the boy raising the bucket in the well, pausing, and then lowering it.
Attached Image

(The final version should have the kolobok taking some water from the bucket to drink.)

... with a wider bucket: Attached Image

Thank you, Reny - It helps to stay inspired to have such nice comments!

The 5th of January is the Twelfth Day of Christmas.

The Twelfth Day is the final day of Twelvetide / Christmastide. Twelfth Night is also known as Epiphany Eve.

There are some intriguing customs associated with Twelfth Night - the singing of carols, the chalking of the door, a merry feast, the selecting of a Lord of Misrule (chosen by chance if his piece of cake had a bean in it, hence he's also known as King of the Bean), and of course the baking of that cake, Twelfth Cake.

This concludes the Twelve Days of Christmas until next time.

On the Eleventh Day of Christmas, my True Love sent to Me
Twelve Drummers Drumming
Eleven Pipers Piping
Ten Lords a-Leaping
Nine Ladies Dancing
Eight Maids a-Milking
Seven Swans a-Swimming
Six Geese a-Laying
Five Go-o--old Rings
Four Colly-Birds
Three French Hens
Two Turtle-Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree.

To you, also, Reny. Happy New Year for 2020!

Oh, I'm a little late (by about 40 minutes) in posting the next "Day of Christmas" kolobok.

The 1st of January is the Eighth Day of Christmas.
It is also (obviously) New Year's Day.

A girl chef roasting something in the oven:

(It's too large to upload here, so I've linked from imgbb.)

One of my first kolobok attempts was to make a girl version of a chef kolobok. I don't know who created the original, and the resulting girl version that I produced was very imperfect.

I decided to start from scratch, and make my own little chef / home cook kolobok with a more modern-looking oven.

(The stove top should work nicely for a kolobok making a sauce or soup or something, as well!)

Christmas Day is considered the First Day of Christmas (in most traditions). It's the start of Twelvetide, also known as Christmastide (again, in most traditions).

This is a liturgical season, which has spread to become part of our general concept of "the Christmas season". It's a time for joy and celebration, to wish each other peace and merriment, and to feast upon the copious remnants of Christmas Day - the Christmas Cake, the remains of turkey or goose or pheasant or what-have-you, the Pudding, some Wassail, and so on.

So... here we go.

On the First Day of Christmas, my True Love sent to Me
A Partridge in a Pear Tree.

Today (26th December) is the Second Day of Christmas.

This is also known as Saint Stephen's Day (aka Feast of Saint Stephen or Feast of Stephen, familiar to us from the Christmas carol Good King Wenceslas.)

Two Turtle-Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree.

The Wise Men from the East (the Magi) following the Star:

(I may add caparisons to the horses later. I think it would add something beautiful to this scene. I also realise that I haven't included any rise and fall in the horses' gait, but of course the ambling gait is supposed to be very smooth, so I suppose that's an argument for leaving it as it is.)

I've just been designing the basic look of the Magi (Wise Men from the East).

I know that we really don't know how many of these Magi there were, but since tradition has it as three, I've stuck to that number.

Here are the three of them (darker-toned):

Attached ImageAttached ImageAttached Image <-- static idea

Here are the three with more of an olive-toned skin:

I think I prefer the olive-skinned Magi.

As to what they rode... it isn't likely to have been camels, but more probably horses. On with the task of making an Arabian steed for koloboks!

tender.gif That donkey is one of my favourites, too. Thank you.

Here is the Star of Bethlehem hovering over the building where Christ was born. I didn't make it a sloping-roofed stable, because it's not historically accurate! The buildings at the time in the Levantine were flat-roofed...

Attached Image

I really wanted to put a kolobok character into this scene, but it would have spoiled the idea of the star being the focus. However, that doesn't mean that I can't create a kolobok scene with the Magi from the East following the star...
