I would like to see your koloboks. I had a vague memory that the boomerang kolobok was one of yours, but I have double-checked and realise that it's DrDiesel's work.

The boomerang was DrD's work. I don't even know where my smileys ARE anymore. I know I posted a few on here, and a few on the (now deleted) SmileyGenerator forums. I probably have some scattered across a few of my old backups too, but they are certainly not all in the one place. Some of them I've probably lost for good. -------------------- |

Oh no!
When I was in my first year at uni, I had some unpublished manuscripts on a computer which was misbehaving. While I was out of the house, my father called a so-called computer technician who decided that the only fix was to reformat the hard drive... I lost writings and some other files that could not be retrieved, even though I ended up paying a data recovery company. (They retrieved about ㉏ - 90% of the files. Murphy's Law... the really important stuff was gone for ever.) If you do find any of your works, I hope you post them here. EDIT: I had to edit "eighty" in numeral form to a html character, as otherwise it kept on rendering as a kolobok. ![]() This post has been edited by Almirena: Aug 16 2019, 01:17 AM |

Hi BradLee....nice to see you here again ![]() Hi Reny... it's nice to see you too. ![]() Oh no! If you do find any of your works, I hope you post them here. I am not so worried. They were all fairly simple to make. Besides, now I have even more incentive to make some newer/better ones. ![]() This post has been edited by BradLee: Aug 9 2019, 04:55 PM -------------------- |

The complete card deck of Kolobok State cards: [snip] Those must have taken ages. ![]() ![]() Maybe they could do with a border on the card edges though, so it doesn't "wash" on a light background? I mentioned that I would be making a kolobok with its arm in a sling... so I've finally got around to it. A boy kolobok with his arm in a sling, and a girl version with her arm in a sling: ![]() ![]() These are wonderful too!!! I forgot to comment on them earlier. ![]() ![]() Have you ever been to a carnival or fair, where one of the stalls offered the Laughing Clowns game? They always fascinated me, those inexorably turning clown heads with the gaping mouths! ![]() This is really well done. And I think you have nailed the turning movement. One small change I would make though is to make ithe head turn just as far in the other direction. Then it would be perfect! ![]() I hope you don't mind my suggestions too much. ![]() -------------------- |

BradLee, I do not mind suggestions at all. Sometimes they give another perspective, or added weight to something, and I'm very conscious of not being a gifted artist and having had to learn kolobok-making from scratch by examining other people's koloboks in detail, sometimes frame by frame.
My koloboks are done pixel by pixel in close-up, then reducing them down to 100% again to examine them anxiously (to see if what worked in zoom works in the correct size), zooming in because almost always it does NOT look the way I want it to, and so on. It can be frustrating when the little kolobok or its accoutrements look muddy or unclear at 100%, and I have to play around with the colours or amount of detail or any of a number of factors. With the card koloboks, I have a grey shadow line (single pixel border, #DBDBDB) and rounded edges on the right and lower sides of the cards, to give the definition that I hoped would be just enough to stop the cards from disappearing against light backgrounds. I think it works, but if it turns out not to, I would reluctantly change it. (I wanted just that subtle definition!) Thank you re the boy and girl kolobok with slings. (I used the memory of my own arm in a sling as the mental model.) Re the Laughing Clowns - oh rats. I think you may be right. Another person has insisted that the neck movement doesn't go far enough, even though I tried to base my kolobok version on this video (especially from 16 seconds in). I am going to increase the movement to 180°. Thanks for the honest feedback! |

Sometimes those little koloboks feel the spirit of adventure take hold of them. They want to go off into the wide blue yonder, seeking out thrills and excitement.
I couldn't resist answering the kolobok's call for adventure, and gave this kolobok a jetpack. ![]() |
