I've just been designing the basic look of the Magi (Wise Men from the East).
I know that we really don't know how many of these Magi there were, but since tradition has it as three, I've stuck to that number. Here are the three of them (darker-toned): ![]() ![]() ![]() Here are the three with more of an olive-toned skin: ![]() ![]() ![]() I think I prefer the olive-skinned Magi. As to what they rode... it isn't likely to have been camels, but more probably horses. On with the task of making an Arabian steed for koloboks! A fine Persian horse with an ambling gait:
![]() These fine steeds posing (various coats): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Wise Men from the East (the Magi) following the Star: ![]() (I may add caparisons to the horses later. I think it would add something beautiful to this scene. I also realise that I haven't included any rise and fall in the horses' gait, but of course the ambling gait is supposed to be very smooth, so I suppose that's an argument for leaving it as it is.) |

A girl chef roasting something in the oven:
![]() (It's too large to upload here, so I've linked from imgbb.) One of my first kolobok attempts was to make a girl version of a chef kolobok. I don't know who created the original, and the resulting girl version that I produced was very imperfect. I decided to start from scratch, and make my own little chef / home cook kolobok with a more modern-looking oven. (The stove top should work nicely for a kolobok making a sauce or soup or something, as well!) ![]() This post has been edited by Almirena: Jan 19 2020, 12:27 PM |

I enjoyed making those kitchen koloboks!
I'm working on a well kolobok. At the moment I have the boy raising the bucket in the well, pausing, and then lowering it. ![]() (The final version should have the kolobok taking some water from the bucket to drink.) ... with a wider bucket: ![]() Improved version: ![]() This post has been edited by Almirena: Jan 13 2020, 05:14 PM |

In the meantime, here is the basic (static) idea for Little Miss Muffet.
![]() The kolobok spider which I made earlier is going to make its appearance into the final Little Miss Muffet scene, of course. |

And here she is... Little Miss Muffet.
Little Miss Muffet Sat on a tuffet Eating her curds and whey. Along came a spider And sat down beside her And frightened Miss Muffet away. ![]() This post has been edited by Almirena: Jun 3 2020, 09:21 PM |

A new idea... Snow White eating the poisoned apple, or Snow White with the seven dwarves.
It all starts with Schneewittchen... "[Sie] war so weiß wie Schnee, so rot wie Blut und so schwarzhaarig wie Ebenholz". I experimented with making my little Snow White paler-looking, but in my opinion it didn't succeed in giving her the Snow White look. It just looked anaemic! So... here is the basic Snow White idea. ![]() (Rejected paler version: ![]() |

I'm glad you like the rose. (A friend gave a humorous comment about it, saying "There's something LOOKING at me, and it's batting its eyes at me!")
With Schneewittchen, I've tried two more versions - one is another pale version, and the second is with added rosy cheeks. I may just stick with the normal kolobok colour but it's worth experimenting a little. ![]() ![]() ![]() ... I think there's no doubt that the original kolobok colouring works better than the paler versions. This post has been edited by Almirena: Jan 30 2020, 07:08 PM |
