Merci... I'm glad you like them.
Here is a little kolobok girl who is gradually becoming more and more exasperated, until finally she's so annoyed that steam is coming out of her ears. ![]() ... and the boy version: ![]() This post has been edited by Almirena: Oct 18 2019, 02:46 PM |

This is inspired by/a reworking of an emoticon that I found...
I don't know who the author was. The original was not a kolobok (I think) although it seemed to have been made by someone who was at least partially trying for the kolobok look. I've changed it considerably. The scenario is an appointment with the doctor for a proctology exam. ![]() This post has been edited by Almirena: Oct 24 2019, 02:38 PM |

Thank you, Reny!
The "smoke coming out of his/her ears" kolobok was created as a result of a comment by someone whom I know from another forum. I thought "What a great idea for a kolobok". I'm currently working on a flamenco kolobok. The hand movements are incredibly difficult to make. I wanted to include the "flores" hand movements, but making the hands look right does not seem possible unless the hands are slightly - just slightly - too large in my opinion. I think it's coming along... but it's taking longer than I'd expected. |

In honour of the hard-working, courageous and dedicated firefighters who work so tirelessly, in the grimmest of conditions, to fight the bushfires and blazes in catastrophic "Code Red" conditions throughout Australia:
![]() The fires burning in NSW, Queensland, South Australia, and the northern part of Victoria are incredibly dangerous and uncontrollable. Hundreds of homes have been lost, and many blazes will not be controllable for the foreseeable future. The smoke levels in Brisbane (QLD) and Sydney (NSW) are dreadful. QUOTE A normal level of particles in the air in Brisbane is around 10 units (micrograms of particles per one cubic metre of air). On Monday, November 11, the sensors around Brisbane measured values up to 400 units, the highest level since a large dust storm hit the city in 2009. QUOTE "When the air quality index reaches 200 a hazard warning is issued, and current readings are as high as 750 in inner-city suburbs in Sydney." The density of the smoke in the city has been deemed poor, meaning it poses a risk to people with heart or lung conditions. Firefighters / firemen are among the bravest, most dedicated and highly skilled individuals. They face dreadful conditions, appalling danger, and taxing emotional tolls throughout much of their work. I cannot applaud them highly enough. EDIT: more compact version. ![]() This post has been edited by Almirena: Jan 15 2020, 04:36 PM |

Thank you; it always helps to have some nice words of encouragement!
I'm continuing on the Christmas theme. (I actually wanted to have a kolobok Advent Calendar set ready, but I'm lagging behind badly. It might be that I end up using other people's Christmas koloboks in the overall piece, which might be a bit of a cheek. I would rather ensure that I do each work myself.) Here is the angel appearing to the shepherds as they watched over their flocks at night: ![]() As that is rather large, here's a smaller version: ![]() This post has been edited by Almirena: Dec 10 2019, 01:31 AM |

![]() Here is the Star of Bethlehem hovering over the building where Christ was born. I didn't make it a sloping-roofed stable, because it's not historically accurate! The buildings at the time in the Levantine were flat-roofed... ![]() I really wanted to put a kolobok character into this scene, but it would have spoiled the idea of the star being the focus. However, that doesn't mean that I can't create a kolobok scene with the Magi from the East following the star... |
