Now and then I see posts where Aiwan insists that Koloboks and Nomicons (IPB styled smilies) are different.

Though it is obvious they are not identical, they are very similar. Many, but not all Koloboks have hair - some are bald. Most have "open eyes" but occasionally that is not true either. And there is a subtle difference in the color palette of the bodies - but that is only slight.

So I was wondering if Aiwan could tell us exactly what it is that he feels are the distinguishing characteristics that make a Kolobok a Kolobok.

The on-line translator was doing a great job until it hit one part when it told me........

"Here therefore there all cheese a pine forest with that who where and for whom did." lol.gif

Hmmmmm.

I got the cheese as well Fugz - though not the evergreens. nea.gif

I've found it is best to wait for dilia's translation on discussions like this since she can better interpret nuance - as well as adjust for spelling errors. wink.gif

Definitely OR NOT!!!!!!
I am interested......
maybe it is a Russian saying.....

"cannot see the cheese for the pine trees"................ Yup - that must be it!!! Strange lol.gif
That's all we need - a Russian who can't spell (joke wink.gif )

Here therefore there entire cheese boron with the fact who where and for whom made.

Cheese here, pine trees gone!! Now we have chemistry!! B, boron, atomic number 5.

new smiles by Connie are brilliant, but its not the way to translate Russian idioms. yahoo.gif rofl.gif

The discussion in Aiwans mind is the meeting like penny talk about... empty egg... smile.gif
He told that main idea was:
his smiles are moving emotions with heart and soul, they are alive
the others are just the shot - frozen life

This was a very interesting thread to read. Thank you.

When I first gave a try at animating a smiley I used a Kolobok (what does Kolobok mean?) as a guide line and a learning tool. This one here ~>

I learned a lot from trying to make this for my friend. It's a picture of her dog, and she is an old fashioned farm girl type. Now, months later, I learned that she is made by "Connie", and that there are "Koloboks"!

I even found "Fools" web site recently. I didn't mean to disrespect an artist. I didn't know about the the smiley artists community at all.

I do now, and will be very careful to ask if I can.

I had to really look at her to even begin to think of which smiley of mine you could be talking about Mother Goose. The only one I can think of is this one? Don't even give it another thought. I do not mind others here remaking any of my smileys. My work all came from learning from the great artists here at Kolobok's and Aiwans generosity in allowing us to use his Gdk. The farm girl smiley is cute smile.gif
