is it possible to save individual frames?

You can save an individual frame by deleteing all the frames you DON'T want and then saving that file under a different name than the original.

The animation on this image is unnecessarily prolonged.
16 frames is all that would really be required (to make him roll back and forth).
If you want to add the bounces as he giggles, or the eyes and mouth opening and closing, then you'd need additional frames.

Hey doc and Fugz,

I just wanted to encourage you both to stick at it.
It may seem hard at first, but being able to make your own smilies is a very rewarding experience.

If you have the patience to stick it out then you will be able to create your own personalised smilies,
That will look how YOU want them to look, and do what YOU want them to do.

Kind regards,

BradLee

Is Jasc Animation Shop a "stand alone" application?

Or does it require that you have Paint Shop Pro installed?

It's a bit confusing because of what it says on the download page 833P linked to:
QUOTE (Jasc® Paint Shop Pro™ 9 - Additional Download Resources)
If you've purchased the Download version of Paint Shop Pro 9 or downloaded the Trial version, here are some additional resources (Picture Tubes™, picture frames, shapes, etc.) you can download free. To use, you must have Paint Shop Pro 9 installed. All you need to do is download and run the executable.

I guess it doesn't help that the linked page is rather outdated.
Jasc software was bought by Corel some time back.
In fact, PaintShop, ImageReady and Ulead are ALL Corel products now. wacko.gif

I would guess that Animation Shop would be what you are after if you want something that's interactive with your current software.

Aiwan - I am probably not the best instructor, but if you wish to pin this topic then I have no objection. pardon.gif

I don't know why that is happening other than perhaps your system doesn't have enough available RAM when you are running it.

I'm so accustomed to using the Optimize panel when I save that I forget that you can also save from the file menu.

You can reduce the canvas to a more manageable size - maybe 40x30 pixels - and then move all the objects so they are within that area. The only problem then will again be the sheer quantity of objects to choose from.

Ok, I've isolated a bunch of objects into individual sorted GIF files so that you can drop them in as you wish. [attachment=35:Smiley_Parts.zip]
To use them, open Ulead and set your blank canvas to 40x30 (or whatever size you like to work with) then open the "bases" folder and click on one of the files (Setting the folder options to "Thumbnail View" will make picking items easier.) and drag it over to the Ulead window. You should get a pop up message asking whether you want it in the current frame or to make a new frame - select current. Now the little body will show in your object panel, frame panel, and main window. You can drag it around the main window to wherever you want it.
Now open one of the other folders for the eyes, mouths, hands and do the same thing you did to get the body in place. Repeat for all the other objects you want in that frame.
Now, duplicate the frame and move any existing objets you want and/or hide them if you want to add different items and then drag and drop new objects in as you like.

Thanks! I was able to download these.

This is the 2nd place I am asking, but I cannot open the GDK kit after downloading because it is .rar file. How do I change this? I have Vista system, applications Ulead 5 Gif Animator and Photoshop Elements.

I would appreciate any help.

You need to download winrar. You need to open it in the winrar application. Just google winrar or go to download.com and type in winrar, it is a similar program as winzip.
