I enjoyed creating Little Miss Muffet so much that I wanted to make some additional nursery rhyme koloboks.

So... I'm working on Mary Mary, Quite Contrary.

Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How Does your Garden grow?
With Silver Bells and Cockle Shells
And Pretty Maids all in a Row.

This is the contrary Mary: Attached Image <-- static idea

Here is her Garden: Attached Image

Something entirely different - a kolobok doing the floss dance!

Excellent work, Almirena clapping.gif good.gif I like it so much.

Thank you, Reny. angel.gif hi.gif (I think we need a girl version of the kolobok tipping its hat, don't we?)

Thank you both, Vesperala and Reny.

One of the trickiest things for me to achieve with the disguised old woman was to have her simultaneously quaint-looking (like a kindly farmer's lady who wouldn't automatically frighten Snow White by her appearance) and yet somehow creepy - especially once she starts chuckling evilly to herself.

I also wanted to make the Wicked Queen look both attractive and haughty. (She's got red hair primarily to make it stand out from the golden crown, as I didn't want to give her dark hair like Snow White's.)

Here is the kolobok scene linking the two events: the transformation of the Wicked Queen into the Old Woman. The original story doesn't say that the transformation was achieved by magic; I suppose it could just be that the Queen was amazingly adept at disguising herself. But to simplify things, instead of making her put on a wig and heavy makeup and a false nose, and learning how to bend her back so as to look as though she's got rheumatism, I've just got her muttering a magic spell and waving her hand to achieve the transformation.

The Wicked Queen asks her magic mirror:

"Mirror, Mirror, on the wall,
Who is the fairest of them all?"

... and the mirror replies...

QUOTE
Frau Königin, Ihr seid die Schönste hier,
Aber Schneewittchen ist tausendmal schöner als Ihr.

(Your Majesty, thou art the fairest I see
Yet Snow White is a thousand times fairer than thee.)

QUOTE
Frau Königin, Ihr seid die Schönste hier,
Aber Schneewittchen über den Bergen
Bei den sieben Zwergen
Ist noch tausendmal schöner als Ihr.

(Your Majesty, thou art the fairest I see
Yet beyond the mountains 'neath the vault of heaven
Where dwell the dwarves, all seven,
Snow White is still a thousand times fairer than thee.)

I'm glad you like the rose. (A friend gave a humorous comment about it, saying "There's something LOOKING at me, and it's batting its eyes at me!")

With Schneewittchen, I've tried two more versions - one is another pale version, and the second is with added rosy cheeks.

I may just stick with the normal kolobok colour but it's worth experimenting a little.

Attached Image <-- paler version #2
Attached Image <-- paler version #2 with rosy cheeks
<-- the original version from my previous post

... I think there's no doubt that the original kolobok colouring works better than the paler versions.

A new idea... Snow White eating the poisoned apple, or Snow White with the seven dwarves.

It all starts with Schneewittchen... "[Sie] war so weiß wie Schnee, so rot wie Blut und so schwarzhaarig wie Ebenholz".

I experimented with making my little Snow White paler-looking, but in my opinion it didn't succeed in giving her the Snow White look. It just looked anaemic!

So... here is the basic Snow White idea.

Attached Image <-- static concept

And here she is... Little Miss Muffet.

Little Miss Muffet
Sat on a tuffet
Eating her curds and whey.
Along came a spider
And sat down beside her
And frightened Miss Muffet away.

In the meantime, here is the basic (static) idea for Little Miss Muffet.

The kolobok spider which I made earlier is going to make its appearance into the final Little Miss Muffet scene, of course.

I enjoyed making those kitchen koloboks!

I'm working on a well kolobok. At the moment I have the boy raising the bucket in the well, pausing, and then lowering it.
Attached Image

(The final version should have the kolobok taking some water from the bucket to drink.)

... with a wider bucket: Attached Image

Improved version: Attached Image

Thank you, Reny - It helps to stay inspired to have such nice comments!

The 5th of January is the Twelfth Day of Christmas.

The Twelfth Day is the final day of Twelvetide / Christmastide. Twelfth Night is also known as Epiphany Eve.

There are some intriguing customs associated with Twelfth Night - the singing of carols, the chalking of the door, a merry feast, the selecting of a Lord of Misrule (chosen by chance if his piece of cake had a bean in it, hence he's also known as King of the Bean), and of course the baking of that cake, Twelfth Cake.

This concludes the Twelve Days of Christmas until next time.

On the Eleventh Day of Christmas, my True Love sent to Me
Twelve Drummers Drumming
Eleven Pipers Piping
Ten Lords a-Leaping
Nine Ladies Dancing
Eight Maids a-Milking
Seven Swans a-Swimming
Six Geese a-Laying
Five Go-o--old Rings
Four Colly-Birds
Three French Hens
Two Turtle-Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree.

To you, also, Reny. Happy New Year for 2020!

Oh, I'm a little late (by about 40 minutes) in posting the next "Day of Christmas" kolobok.

The 1st of January is the Eighth Day of Christmas.
It is also (obviously) New Year's Day.

A girl chef roasting something in the oven:

(It's too large to upload here, so I've linked from imgbb.)

One of my first kolobok attempts was to make a girl version of a chef kolobok. I don't know who created the original, and the resulting girl version that I produced was very imperfect.

I decided to start from scratch, and make my own little chef / home cook kolobok with a more modern-looking oven.

(The stove top should work nicely for a kolobok making a sauce or soup or something, as well!)
